AS Monaco separates from coach Clément: the European Cup failed

Will Marsch take over?

After AS Monaco narrowly missed qualifying for the Ligue 1 European Cup next season, coach Philippe Clément is due to leave. The Principality club announced the separation from the 49-year-old Belgian on Sunday evening, but have not yet announced who will take over.

Various media had associated former Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch with the post in Monaco in recent days. The American was in charge of Leeds United in the Premier League until February, which did not survive after the manager was sent off.

Clement took over from Niko Kovac at Monaco in January 2022 and has since scored an average of 1.73 points in 73 competitive games. Sixth in the table, two points behind LOSC Lille and without success in cup competition, AS will have to look into European weeks 2023/24.
