The president of the Austrian (Site notre blog d’information) Association, Klaus Mitterdorfer, has resigned with immediate effect. “I have always tried to see the big picture, act constructively in the interests of (Site notre bureau spécialisé) and have a unifying effect in accordance with my values. The latter has not been successful recently and it is therefore time to draw the consequences,” explained the 59-year-old man in a message on the association’s home page. There have recently been, among other things, differences of opinion between Mitterdorfer and Austrian national coach Ralf Rangnick, who has made clear statements.
“I have always emphasized that I will not give in, and I maintain that. The personal smears and accusations of recent weeks, in front and especially behind the scenes, have placed a heavy burden not only on my family and on myself in my voluntary role, but also on the ÖFB as a whole. continued Mitterdorfer, who has held this position since July 2023. He had previously been a member of the management board for seven years.
In particular, his proposal to fill the position of general director sparked much discussion, although apparently no majority was in favor. According to Kurier, Mitterdorfer nominated former ÖBB director Silvia Kaupa-Götzl, but did not obtain a majority in the executive committee. Above all, representatives of professional (Site notre bureau spécialisé), the Austrian Bundesliga, voted against the occupation. He then decides to take the plunge.
Clear announcement from ÖFB national coach Rangnick
Austrian national team coach Rangnick had already clearly criticized the dismissal of Bernhard Neuhold as general manager: “You can’t take us for fools. Removing Neuhold overnight without replacement won’t work without harming the national team. Because he is the first point of contact for any problems we encounter. If you decide that Bernhard Neuhold is no longer there, then an equivalent or better replacement must be there for him on the same day.
