Jamal Musiala returned to the field six months before the German national team’s opening World Cup match against Curacao. 164 days after his serious injury during FC Bayern’s Club World Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain, the 22-year-old still completed part of training with the Munich team this morning.
FC Bayern wrote that Musiala was “warmly welcomed by his teammates”. The prospect was « first allowed to walk through his teammates’ line » before taking part in the warm-up and some passing drills. The offensive player then continued his individual rehabilitation measures, the record champions said in a statement.
Bayern are currently finishing the last preparation week of the year. In the end, there will be an appearance at 1. FC Heidenheim on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. before the winter holidays. Coach Vincent Kompany wants to put « zero pressure » on Musiala or the medical department, as he recently said ahead of Munich’s 2-2 draw against Mainz in the Bundesliga. But he would like Musiala to be able to “hopefully do some training before Christmas” after his serious injury.

“It would just be good in terms of feeling for the team and also for him,” Kompany said, especially regarding the “mental” component. Musiala will play his first minutes again in January. It remains to be seen whether there will be enough for the starting XI again. “It would be an ideal plan for us,” explained the 39-year-old coach.
