HSV boss Kuntz explains: This is why Choupo-Moting was not brought back

When it became clear that top scorer Robert Glatzel would be absent from Hamburger SV for a long time, speculation quickly did the rounds: HSV could bring Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting, currently without a club, back to Elbe. HSV boss Stefan Kuntz explained to ‘Sport Bild’ why nothing came of it.

“We cannot say that we have a strong and broad team and a great team spirit. Then someone is gone for a longer period of time and we immediately call in someone else. It would be a bad signal,” explains the sports director. The sports management has great confidence in the team.

In addition, Kuntz continued, it was not financially possible to sign the striker, who played for the Rothosen for seven years on and off.
