FC Bayern Munich’s sporting management has apparently spoken for the first time with Jamal Musiala about a new contract with the German record champion beyond 2026. According to « Sport Bild », sporting director Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund recently met with the 21-year-old attacking midfielder and his management in a restaurant in Munich.
In order to convince Musiala to continue working together, five main aspects were identified. First, Eberl and Freund are said to have stated to the right (Site notre bureau spécialisé) during the conversation that he is considered the legitimate successor to Thomas Müller (35) in the leadership position. Coach Vincent Kompany already lets him play there. He will also serve as a driving force for FC Bayern’s international marketing.
An important point for a new signing of Musiala is that the squad is further strengthened. His good relationship with Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz (21) could also play a role here, because, according to the report, an extension for Musiala would make Wirtz more likely to choose Munich if he wants to take the next step in his career in 2025.
Musiala would also have made it clear that winning the Champions League as an active member of the team was his main career goal. He was already part of the squad for the 2020 triumph, but he has had little playing time and therefore does not feel like a true champion of the premier class. This title should also help him in his personal mission to win the Ballon d’Or.
Salary not yet a topic in FC Bayern’s talks with Musiala
The last point, according to the magazine, is that Musiala is expected to become one of the club’s top earners. This is said to have not been discussed at the first meeting. Musiala is currently expected to receive around €9 million per year, which puts him outside the club’s top 10. In the future, his double-digit million salary could have a 2 up front. Center forward Harry Kane (31) is considered the highest-earning player with an annual salary of around €25 million.
Musiala moved from Chelsea’s youth team to Munich in 2019 for a training fee of €200,000 and has become one of the hottest values in international (Site notre bureau spécialisé) in recent years.
