Emilo Butragueno - Spain
During his early years, Emilo Butragueno had two hobbies, football and basketball. He selected to make a career out of football. Between the years 1982 to 1984 he represented Castilla, scoring many goals for them and was a prolific striker for the club. Butragueno made his international debut in a match against Wales as a substitute in 1984. In 1984 he went on to feature for Real Madrid, he had a great upfront partnership with Mexican forward, Hugo Sanchez as the two fantastic footballers’ complemented each other perfectly. In their first 4 years together, Real Madrid won the league during all those running. During the 1986 world cup, Butragueno’s performance was breath taking. He ended the 1986 world cup as second top scorer, behind Gary Lineker.
He played for Spain during the 1990 world cup finals, however he failed to get on to the score sheet, Spain eventually were eliminated to Yugoslavia in the last sixteen.
Raul - Spain
Raul was Real Madrid’s leading goal scorer during the 1995-96 season scoring 19 goals in 40 matches. He made his full international debut against Czech Republic in September 1996. His first goal for Spain came during an encounter against Yugoslavia in December 1996. Raul has been hugely successful with his club Real Madrid; he was one of the star players in the team that won the 1998 champions league.
He was a member of the Spanish squad that participated in World cup 1998 and Euro 2000. Raul was Spain’s deadliest threat in the 2002 world cup finals; he played in four of their matches scoring three goals for Spain. He has been a great goal scorer for Real Madrid since the 2002 world cup finals.
Jesus Maria Pereda – Spain
Jesus Maria Pereda was a legendary Spanish football player. Pereda scored two crucial goals during the 1964 European Championships which Spain won. Including a goal in the final, against The Soviet Union. He participated for Spain on 15 occasions scoring 6 goals for his nation. He played most of his soccer in Spain, including for tough teams such as Real Madrid, Real Valladolid and Sevilla, he then went on to feature for Barcelona. He retired from football towards the end of 1971. |
