Italy 2-0 Yugoslavia   Euro 68 Final Replay

Italy introduced five new players including Mazzola and Yugoslavia introduced virtually the same first eleven. In the rematch, the Yugoslav’s motivation and enthusiasm disintegrated as the tiredness factor pelted in and the only Yugoslav that had a decent game was the goal keeper Pantelic. Italy were shocked to be given the ample space they were receiving and took advantage of the situation in putting vast amounts of pressure on to the Yugoslav goal. Riva was breath taking in his upfront position through out the match, after only ten minutes into the tie; he had a tremendous effort saved. Shortly after, Domenghini crossed from the right and Riva put Italy in front. On the half hour mark, Anastasi shot on the turn and raised the cushion to two goals. The result finished 2-0 and the Italians were the champions of Europe.

World cup 1934 final
Italy 2 - Czechoslovakia 1 (0) AET.

On 10 June 1934, a crowd of 55000 witnessed the host nation Italy take the field against the more flair players of Czechoslovakia. At the beginning it did not look so as the Czechoslovaks withstood juddering stops and crunching challenges to impose a short passing game. Nonetheless, the pretty patterns on the field failed to translate into goals, not until more than 25 minutes had elapsed in the second half. At which point the Italians began to assert themselves. After 81 minutes Orsi, yet another of the Argentine “Italians”, scored a freakish goal, feinting with his left and finishing with his right; a goal which he was unable to reenact prior expectant journalists the following day despite 20 attempts! The match went into extra time, which in turn favored the physically more robust Italians. Finally Schiavio scored for Italy.
