Zinedine Zidane mastered the 1998 world cup final. His two first half headed goals, both resulting from corners, put the game a stride beyond Brazil. This was a fantastic match and was very watch able as well, giving us a team performance of the highest caliber backed by thrillingly partisan support from the French supporters. There was confusion before the start of the match as to whether Ronaldo was going to participate for Brazil; he was not on the team sheet and then 45 minutes prior the match his name was on the team sheet. However, he had a poor match and the French exploited on his unusual performance. Emmanuel Petit secured victory for the French during injury time. France won this classic match 3-0. Didier Deschamps lifted France’s first World Cup.

France 2-0 Spain – Euro 84 Final

France began the final impressively as Giresse rifled in a shot within the opening minute. The match was fairly level through out the first half. As the second period commenced the French grew in confidence. Ten minutes into the second half, France were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box and Michel Platini curled his shot over the Spaniards defensive wall and scored, many thought that the keeper could have done better however France were now in complete control. France stumbled with five minutes left as Le Roux was dismissed for a second book able offence. Spain went in search for an equalizer; however minutes prior the final whistle Tigana cleared the ball as practically the whole of the Spanish side moved into the French half and Bellone run on to it and lobbed the ball over the advancing Arconada to secure France’s triumph.
